Sarawak-West Kalimantan Transmission Inter-connection Project
The first Sarawak-Kalimantan Barat grid inter-connection at Biawak-Sajingan border in the Lundu District was launched by the Provincial Governor of Sambas Residency Drs. Cornelis at the Desa Aruk immigration office in Sajingan on 15 March 2009.
The auspicious occasion reinforces the joint collaboration between Sarawak Energy Berhad and our Indonesian counterpart PT PLN on the development and implementation of the Sarawak-West Kalimantan transmission inter-connection projects.
SEB, via Syarikat SESCO Berhad, is to export and supply electricity at competitive price and tariffs to PT PLN (Persero) to meet its power on the other side of the border. Speaking to an audience of 200 people comprising mainly PLN management representatives and local community leaders, SEB Chairman Datuk Abdul Hamed Sepawi, reiterated that the cross-border interconnection may be nsignificant in terms of energy consumption in the area but it represented a giant step in collaborative efforts between the two power utility companies.
Among the guests at the function were Chief Operating Officer Mr. Danice Endawie Ita and Group General Manager (Corporate Affairs) Mr. Zuraimy Haji Kushaili.
